Her figure was modeled after Mae West
She wore short dresses, high heels and one or two garter belts
Over 100 Betty Boop cartoons were produced -- they were designed for
adult viewing
Betty was called the "Queen of the Animated Screen"
In 1933, censorship laws resulted in her longer skirt, and the garter
was removed
Beginning in 1934, Betty appeared on cards, dolls, watches, tea sets,
Betty Boop tote bags, bowling bag, laptop bags, duffel bags, cosmetic bags,
etc.
The last Betty Boop cartoons were released in 1939
Marketers rediscovered Betty in the 1980's
Betty appeared in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" in 1988
